Update #4 (Families) - School Closure for Fri, Jan. 10

Posted Date: 1/09/25 (5:23 PM)

Dear Mountain View Families,

As the region's unhealthy air quality is expected to persist and potentially worsen, all Mountain View School District schools and facilities will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 10, 2025

For today’s return, each of our schools implemented several safety measures to prioritize the well-being of our students and staff:

  • Indoor Activities: All outdoor activities, including recess, lunches, and physical education classes, were conducted indoors to minimize exposure to poor air quality.

  • Air Purification: Each of our classrooms used their air purification equipment and our HVAC systems ran throughout the day to help clean our indoor spaces–such as our libraries, cafeterias/auditoriums.

  • Health Precautions: Our staff closely monitored students and colleagues for signs of respiratory distress–especially those with respiratory conditions.

Despite implementing these measures to keep our school communities indoors today, the potential increase in harmful particulate matter resulting from wildfires is a major concern.

Informing our Families & Staff via ParentSquare: Our administration will continue monitoring air quality reports and will keep our school communities informed as we evaluate the safety of returning to school as well as of changes or additional measures taken to ensure our school communities remain safe. Please continue to check your ParentSquare app (AndroidiOS) and emails

Unless otherwise notified, school will resume on Monday, January 13, 2025 at regular time.

We want to extend our deepest appreciation for our staff and families for their unwavering support during this process. These have been challenging times for many and ensuring everyone's safety remains our top priority. We hope you and your families are staying safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Raymond Andry, Ed.D.

Superintendent
