Principal's Message

Dear Monte Vista TK-8 Families,

It is my pleasure to introduce myself as the new principal at Monte Vista TK-8 School. Over the past 25 years, I have worked as a teacher, education specialist, and administrator in Southern California. My professional journey has taken me from Los Angeles to the U.S.-Mexico border, where I most recently served as a school principal.

I attended schools in El Monte and completed my secondary education in the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, where I also began my teaching career. El Monte holds a special place in my heart, as I was born in Los Angeles and raised in a small apartment with my eight siblings in El Monte. I have many fond memories of growing up in this community, and I consider it an honor to return and serve as a school administrator in a place I love.

On my very first day at Monte Vista, I was warmly welcomed and quickly realized that this is a wonderful school community dedicated to providing the best learning environment for our scholars.

I am committed to serving this community with consistent communication and decision-making that positively impacts Monte Vista. As valued members of this school community, I ask for your commitment to supporting the school's vision and mission. Your involvement in shared decision-making processes is essential to the effective and efficient functioning of our learning community.

I look forward to meeting you and building a strong connection to continue our progress as the Monte Vista Eagle community. To ensure our partnership is successful, it is important that we work together for our scholars' academic and social-emotional success. The following are essential to achieving this success:

  1. Attendance: Bring your scholar to school every day and on time.
  2. Communication: Stay connected with school-home communication.
  3. Positive Engagement: Speak with good purpose, even during difficult conversations.
  4. Support: Uphold the school’s student discipline policies.
  5. Safety: Ensure a safe campus by always checking in at the office.
  6. Involvement: Attend parent conferences to stay informed about your scholar's academic and social-emotional progress.

I look forward to a great 24-25 school year and can’t wait to meet all scholars and families on August 15, 2024.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with your ideas, concerns, or if you would like to be actively involved as a vital team member of our learning community at Monte Vista School.

Kindest regards,

Dr. Fausto Barragan, Jr. Principal Monte Vista TK-8 School
